Spring Buffer

Spring buffer is a safety spare part used in elevator systems to ensure controlled stopping of the cabin or counterweight at the lower limit, absorbing impact energy through a spring mechanism. It reduces mechanical damage and risk during sudden stops.

Spring buffers are critical safety components used in elevator systems when the cabin or counterweight reaches the pit bottom stopping point. They absorb the kinetic energy generated during emergency situations or when the elevator exceeds its lower limit, using a spring mechanism to control the impact.

The spring structure gradually dampens the energy during impact, reducing sudden stress that may occur on the cabin and counterweight. Compared to springless buffers, this feature provides a more controlled stopping performance and reduces the risk of damage to mechanical components. For this reason, they are commonly preferred in medium and high-speed elevator systems.

As seen in the design, the cylindrical body and solid base plate structure allow the buffer to be securely fixed to the floor. After impact, the spring mechanism returns to its original position, making the system ready for the next operation. This provides an important advantage in terms of operational continuity.

The structure, consisting of durable metal and elastomer components, ensures reliable performance even under long-term load and impact conditions without loss of efficiency. With regular maintenance and inspection, spring buffers can operate safely for many years.

Buffers are vital components in elevator safety systems. The use of spring buffers protects both passenger safety and the integrity of the mechanical system. A properly selected and correctly positioned spring buffer defines the safe operating limits of the elevator and minimizes potential risks.
